Get yours now! Chuck Taylor All-Stars are canvas and rubber shoes produced by Converse. They were first produced in 1917 as the "All-Star", Converse's attempt to capture the basketball shoe market. Basketball player Chuck Taylor adopted them as his preferred shoe and he was so impressed with the design that he became the shoe's leading salesman. After proposing a few changes to the shoe, the shoe got its current name and Chuck Taylor's signature on its ankle patch. Consumers demanded more variety from the shoe - particularly with respect to colours in order to match basketball teams - so coloured and patterned shoelaces became popular to complement the two original colours of black and white, available before 1966. Afterwards, more colours and styles became available. Low-top or "Oxford", high-top, and later knee-high, versions were produced. More materials were offered for the construction, including leather, suede, vinyl, denim, and hemp. Some versions of the shoe were offered without laces, held up instead by elastic. These new versions of the shoe were also co-designed by Chuck Taylor, just before his death in 1969. Fans of punk rock have adopted the shoe as a fashion trend since the late-1970s and many popular punk rock bands, such as the Ramones and Blondie have supported the trend by wearing the sneakers. Converse have now become increasingly popular, with a growing market. Originally seen as being worn by those in to a rock music scene, the market is growing to various, younger scenes, whether it be based on a sub-culture (rock still being popular, especially with the growing emo scene) the Chuck Taylors are becoming more popular with hip hop scenes, pop music scene and fashion in general. Many Chuck Taylor owners are those who have owned the shoes in the past, and most own more than one pair

The brand is best known for its laurel logo, which appears on the left breast of the tennis shirts. The laurel logo (based on the old Wimbledon symbol) is stitched into the fabric of the shirt instead of merely ironed on.

The polo shirt was only available in white until the late 1950s when the mods picked up on it and demanded a more varied colour palette. It was the shirt of choice for diverse groups of teenagers throughout the 1960s and 70s, ranging from the skinheads to the Northern Soul scene and Manchester's very own "Perry Boys.".

The recent resurgence in Fred Perry culture has had as much to do with Paul Weller, Olly Murrs, The Libertines, and Kate Moss as it lends itself to its own cool and timeless style.

SOHO / SLIM FIT

The Soho is the slimmest of our fits and is designed with the trend conscious about town in mind. The waist on the Soho is shaped so it outlines the natural waist of our customer. The Soho fit always carries two darts on the lower back of the garment helping to keep the back of the garment against the body. Depending on the design, some Soho styles will carry a sewn-down box pleat at the centre back. The sleeve is slim and shaped at the underarm to keep the slim silhouette throughout the garment.

This M1200 is made in 100% cotton pique and has the traditional twin tips to the collar and sleeve. Launched at Wimbledon in 1952, the Fred Perry polo shirt was an immediate success.

This M1200 is made in 100% cotton pique and has the traditional twin tips to the collar and sleeve. Launched at Wimbledon in 1952, the Fred Perry polo shirt was an immediate success.
